  1. It's always fun when your new chickens start to lay. Our hens are a little more than a year old now and are laying up a storm!!

That chicken pie looks delicious!! I'd love to see a recipe.

  2. Gee that chicken pie looks lovely, pies are so nice aren't they - shame they aren't a 'health' food. When did you plant the cabbages? Mine are no where near hearting yet.

    1. Well my pies are pretty healthy(i think) i make the pastry too so there's not to much butter, no added salt or preservatives,
Must admit i do enjoy a "HOT" four n twenty if we go to the footy!!!
The cabbage seedlings were planted in early March, i also sowed seed for a Italian variety which are just starting to head up now.

    1. The leeks were really tasty, they are such an easy veg to grow they don't mind the cold or the frost.

  4. My ears perked up at the words "chicken pies". Yes, a good book is what I am looking forward to if only the weatherman would get things right and it actually rains when he reports rain!

  6. Wow...congrats on your egg harvest! I love it when the Newbies start laying! We're still waiting on our latest batch to start laying, but it should be soon :-) Your cabbage looks wonderful, too! I finally got tired of fighting the bugs and just pulled ours :-(
